Volunteering Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How long do volunteers typically work?

A. Workdays begin at 8:00 am and usually end around 3:00 pm

Q. Do volunteers break for lunch?

A. Lunch is either provided by Habitat for Humanity or by a volunteer group

Q. What should I wear when volunteering?

A. Please do NOT wear loose clothing or open-toed shoes

A. You may prefer to wear lighter colored clothes during warm weather

Q. Do I need to bring my own tools?

A. Habitat for Humanity will provide tools, however there may not be enough tools for everyone. If you choose to bring your own tools, Columbus Lowndes Habitat for Humanity assumes not responsibility for them

Q. How old do I have to be to volunteer for Columbus Lowndes Habitat for Humanity?

A. Due to the liability insurance, no volunteer under the age of 16 can be present on a worksite when power tools are in use.

Q. How can my church or civic organization or private group schedule a workday?

A. If a church or civic organization or private group would like to schedule a group workday, please contact the Columbus Lowndes Habitat for Humanity office.

Q. I would like to volunteer. What other volunteer oportunites are available besides working on a build?

A. You can also participate in planning fundraising events, church and civic orgainzation relations, or donating materials or finances. If you would like to provide lunch for volunteers, please contact the Columbus Lowndes Habitat for Humanity office.
